The USA Patriot Act requires credit unions to take extra security precautions to help the government fight the war against terrorism and money laundering. In order to comply with the USA Patriot Act, Thunder Bay Area Credit Union is required to verify the identity of those opening new accounts and/or services.

When an account is open or changed, you will be asked information that will allow us to confirm your identity. This may include name, address, date of birth and driver’s license or other identifying government issued documents.

An “account” includes deposit, transaction, asset or credit accounts as well as other extensions of credit.

Please be assured that we will only request information that is required to comply with the USA Patriot Act and that we will use to information for that purpose. Confidentiality of the information gathered by the credit union will be maintained as required under the Privacy Act.
